Anchorman’s Adam McKay directs all-star cast in latest business biopic drama.
The first official trailer has been released for the upcoming financial-crisis drama The Big Short.
The fact-based drama follows a group of average people who became involved in creating the prolific credit bubble that caused a financial crisis in the mid-2000s. Christian Bale leads the cast as Michael Burry, the founder of the Scion Capital who predicts the sabotage. Fellow nominee Steve Carell stars as Steve Eisman, a manager who shorted mortgages for FrontPoint Partner, and Ryan Gosling as Greg Lippmann, a Deutsche Bank trader. Brad Pitt also stars as a partner at financial business, Cornwall Capital.
The Big Short is directed by Adam McKay who is quick off the success of Marvel’s Ant Man (2015) and has built a reputation in Hollywood for comedic films such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) and Step Brothers (2008).
McKay adapts Michael Lewis’ non-fiction bestselling book that explores the build up of the housing and credit bubble crisis in the 2000s.
The Big Short is set for release early 2016.
